EXHIBITION: ‘Distorted Mirror’ by Janine Fuller

20th September 2025 - Photos by Warwick Gow

Distorted Mirror is a deeply personal photo series by interdisciplinary artist Janine Fuller.

Using a portable document scanner, Janine pressed parts of her body against glass, creating raw, abstract images that reveal folds, scars, textures, and shadows in unfamiliar proportions.

Presented as large scale, floor-to-ceiling prints in LANTANA’s dimly lit exhibition space, the works invite slow looking and immersive reflection. These are not traditional portraits, but honest impressions of the body as it is rarely encountered, up close, in fragments, and without filters.

“We’re taught to notice the flaws first. To see the soft folds, the textures, the evidence of living as imperfections. Meanwhile, the beauty — the strength, the warmth, the story — slips quietly into the background.”

Distorted Mirror is an invitation to pause, look closer, and reconsider how you view your own skin.
